One accountable engineer, zero agency layer.
Enterprise-grade website support. Migrations, AI, and the maintenance in between.
I help organizations move, secure, and keep running complex Drupal, WordPress and custom sites and apps, whether that's one site or a few hundred. The work ranges from one-time migrations to AI implementation to the ongoing maintenance most hosts and agencies phone in. No junior handoffs: you work directly with the person who does the work.
30 min · no scope required
Platforms and tools I work with: Acquia, Pantheon.io, Upsun, amazee.io, Fastly, Signal Sciences, Drupal, WordPress, Kubernetes, Cloudflare and the Model Context Protocol.
§ Track record
Recent receipts, not a capabilities deck
-
Led an enterprise-scale platform migration for a Fortune 500 aerospace manufacturer, from the first audit through final cutover, working alongside their security and infrastructure teams
-
Took over, maintained and optimized the websites of a national healthcare association whose members oversee drug benefits for 300 million Americans
-
Rebuilt the site of a CEO-backed women's leadership organization, swapping a stack of paid WordPress plugins for one free site builder: lower monthly costs, and editors who can update pages on their own
-
Built answer-first AI search for a 100k+ page news site, giving visitors direct answers drawn from the site's own content, plus custom chatbots and AI gateway integrations
§ Three ways I work
Move it, improve it, keep it running
[ shipped ]
P1 / Migrations
Platform migrations
You've outgrown your current host, or you're stuck paying enterprise prices for infrastructure that still feels fragile. I handle the move: planning, execution, and the unglamorous parts most people skip.
- Acquia, Pantheon.io, Upsun, amazee.io, or any container-based host
- Full migration planning, wave execution, and team training so your devs aren't relying on me forever
- Zero-downtime approach for organizations where a failed migration isn't an option
[ live ]
P2 / AI
AI implementation & advisory
Most AI projects stall on governance, not capability, or ship as a bolt-on nobody trusts. I build AI features or agents grounded in your actual content and systems. For enterprise teams, I also speak the governance language that gets AI past security review.
- AI-powered search that answers visitors' questions directly from your content, even on very large sites
- AI chat and assistants trained on your own docs and content
- Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that connect AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to your CMS, data and internal systems, with permissions you control
- AI gateway and governance architecture: model routing, access control, and usage management across providers, including hands-on work with the amazee.io AI Gateway

P3 / Maintenance
Ongoing maintenance & support
Migrations and AI builds end. Websites don't stop needing attention the day after launch. I keep platforms secure, updated, and fast long after the big project wraps.
- Uptime, error and security monitoring, with alerts that reach me, not a shared inbox
- Core, module, and plugin updates across Drupal, WordPress and custom apps, tested on a copy of your site with the same visual regression checks I use for migrations before they reach production
- Major version upgrades (Drupal core, WordPress, PHP) planned and run like small migrations
- Performance optimization, security hardening and hacked-site recovery
- Retainer tiers available: a senior technical contact on an ongoing plan, not a ticket queue
multi-site platform migration
148 sites moved in eight weeks, with zero downtime
01 · wk 1–3 · Audit
Before anything moved, every site was inventoried and scored for risk. Most of the estate was standard, but a handful of sites carried custom modules, hard-coded paths and integrations nobody had documented.
- Content, traffic and integration inventory across all 148 sites
- Module, dependency and custom-code audit, with every blocker flagged early
- Risk register with rollback criteria agreed before the first cutover
02 · wk 4–8 · Cutover
Sites moved in four waves, lowest risk first. Each wave was rehearsed on a production clone until the run was predictable, then cut over in a scheduled overnight window with the old platform kept warm for rollback.
- Four waves, each rehearsed on a production clone
- DNS TTLs lowered and caches warmed ahead of each switch
- Final database sync and file rsync inside the cutover window, with no downtime
03 · wk 8+ · After
Launch day wasn't the finish line. The in-house team took over with documentation written for them, monitoring already in place, and support through their first releases on the new platform.
- Runbooks handed to the in-house team
- Observability and alerting left in their accounts
- Retainer covering the first two release cycles
- Downtime
- 0s
- Sites moved
- 148
- Build time
- −62%
- Window

Cutover log
- freeze writes on legacy estate
- drush sql:sync @legacy @lagoon
- drush rsync @legacy:%files @lagoon:%files
- reindex search · wave 4 sites
- dns ttl 60s, fastly purge all
- cutover complete · 0s downtime
“148 sites in eight weeks, and our editors never noticed the move. The runbooks meant my team owned the new platform from day one.”
§ Direct engagement
Why work with me directly
I'm Rolando Scott. When you hire an agency, you get a project manager, a rotating bench, and a discovery phase billed at senior rates. When you hire me, you get the engineer who plans the work, ships it, and answers for it afterwards.
-
I've done this at a scale most consultants haven't: enterprise migrations with real complexity, real stakeholders, and real downtime risk.
-
I sit at the intersection most people don't: infrastructure, application, and security. Those seams are where things actually break.
-
I take care of the client-facing side too: documentation, training, and managing a nervous stakeholder through a technical transition.
-
Based in Costa Rica, fluent in English and Spanish, comfortable working with US, EU, and LatAm teams and timezones.
§ Engagement
What happens after you email me
-
Call
You describe what you run and what is going wrong. I tell you what I think it actually is, including when the answer is "you don't need me for this."
-
Plan
A written plan: scope, sequence, risks, what I need from your team, and a fixed number. No discovery phase billed at senior rates.
-
Build
I do the work and you can see it happening: staging you can click, commits you can read, a weekly note that fits in one screen.
-
Hand back
Documentation your team can use, a runbook for the parts that repeat, and a retainer only if you want one.
§ Before you ask
The questions that come up first
Straight answers to what most people want to know before we start. Anything not covered here, just ask.
Still unsure
Bring the messy version of the problem. Half of these calls end with me telling you it's smaller than you think.
hello@teqqr.comWhy not just hire an agency?
If you need ten people in parallel, hire an agency. Genuinely. For a migration, an AI build, or keeping a site healthy, most of what an agency adds is coordination overhead for work one experienced engineer does faster alone.
↳ see §04 / direct engagement
What if you get hit by a bus?
Everything runs in your accounts, in your repos, with documentation and runbooks written as I go. If I disappear tomorrow your team or a new contractor picks it up from the same notes I use.
↳ runbooks are part of every engagement
Do you work with our existing team?
Usually, yes. I am most often the person who takes on the part your team does not want to own, such as the migration, the infrastructure, or the AI piece, while they keep shipping features.
How do you charge?
Fixed price for defined projects, monthly for retainers. You see the number before the work starts, and it does not move unless the scope does.
↳ no discovery phase billed at senior rates
What size projects do you take on?
From a single complex site to multi-site estates in the hundreds. The common thread is real stakes: traffic, compliance, or a downtime window measured in seconds.
Have a site, or a hundred of them, that need looking after?
Migration, upgrade, AI build, or just someone accountable for keeping it alive. A 30-minute technical call costs you nothing, and you talk to me, not a salesperson.
- Taking work for this quarter
- Replies within one business day
- UTC−6 · overlaps EU mornings, US all day
How it starts
No deck, no discovery invoice. If it turns out you don't need me, I'll tell you on the call.
What to send
A few lines is plenty. Rough answers are fine:
- The site URL, or a rough count if there are many
- Where it's hosted today
- What's going wrong, or what you want to change
- Any deadline you're working against
- NDA on request
- EN / ES
